Who We Are
CJE Build was founded on a straightforward belief: that residential construction should be done properly. Not cut to a cost. Not rushed to a programme. Done properly, with the right people, the right materials, and the kind of attention to detail that makes the difference between a house and a home.
We are a high-specification residential main contractor serving clients across Hertfordshire and the surrounding Home Counties. Every project we take on, whether a thoughtful loft conversion or a complete new build, is delivered to the same uncompromising standard. Our clients expect the best, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

How We Work
Our approach is built around three things: clarity at the start, communication throughout, and craftsmanship at every stage. We take the time to understand your project in full before we commit to a programme, because the best way to avoid problems on site is to anticipate them before we break ground.
As your main contractor, we take single-point accountability for the entire project. You deal with one team, one contact, and one standard, from the day we start on site to the day we hand you the keys.
Our process
From first conversation to final handover.
Initial Consultation
We start with a conversation, on site where possible. We want to understand your project, your vision, your timeline, and your expectations before we do anything else. There's no obligation, and no sales pitch.
Design & Planning
We work alongside your chosen architect and planning consultant to develop a scheme that meets your brief and secures consent. Where clients don't yet have a design team in place, we can recommend trusted partners who share our standards.
Pre-Construction
Before a spade goes in the ground, we plan the build in detail: procurement of materials and specialist trades, a fully resourced programme, site logistics, and a clear line of communication with you. Thorough pre-construction means fewer surprises during the build.
Construction
This is where everything comes together. Our team manages every stage of the build, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and internal finishing, to the specification, without compromise. We provide regular progress updates and are always available to answer questions.
Handover
We don't consider a project finished until you are completely satisfied. We run a thorough snagging process, provide all warranties, building regulation certificates, and O&M documentation, and remain available for aftercare beyond practical completion.
Where We Build
We build exclusively across Hertfordshire and the surrounding Home Counties, including St Albans, Harpenden, Welwyn Garden City, Watford, Hitchin, and Hemel Hempstead, and the wider region. We know the local planning landscape, the character of different areas, and the clients who live here.
We’re not a national contractor who parachutes in. We are part of the community we build in, and that matters to us.
